Brrrrrrr! We’re in the depths of winter, it’s freezing outside and indoors we are turning up the heating to try and keep warm.
This time of year can be hard on our skin – cold and windy weather outdoors and central heating inside our homes can rob our skin of the moisture it needs to stay soft and hydrated.
Add in all the extra handwashing just now and you may be left with skin that is crying out for some TLC. This is where a good lotion bar can come in handy!
What is a Lotion Bar?
This may be a new idea for you. What is a lotion bar? A lotion bar is a solid lotion – it looks like a bar of soap, but has the properties of a lotion.
It is solid at room temperature and below but will start to melt when temperatures reach the mid to high twenties.
In warmer weather you may wish to keep your lotion bar in the fridge.
What’s in it?
Our lotion bars are made from pure, natural, skin-loving ingredients with no nasty preservatives or chemicals that you often find in liquid lotions.
Made from coconut and jojoba oils, and a butter blend of mango and
shea for extra richness, our lotion bars are designed to give your skin a concentrated dose of hydration.
Because the lotion is solid there’s no need for a plastic bottle for packaging. Our lotion bars come in a reusable tin.
How do I use a Lotion Bar?
The best time to apply a lotion bar is when your pores are open, so after a bath or shower is ideal. This allows the moisture to really sink into the skin.
Lotion bars are designed to melt with body heat, so hold the bar in your hands or against your body and this will melt a small amount of the bar. You can then massage the oils into the skin.
If you prefer you can cut off a small amount of the bar and melt in a bowl over a heat source and then massage in the liquid oil.
Warming the oils also makes them super soothing for tired or aching muscles.
As these bars are super rich you only need a very small amount of oil – a little goes a long way.
It also makes them ideal for problem areas of skin such as knees, elbows, knuckles, and feet.
